Vantage Point Business Village

Client: Keith Rhodes Machinery installations Limited (Gloucester)

Location: Mitcheldean

Duration: 4 days

Project Overview:

We were contacted by Keith Rhodes Machinery installations Limited (Gloucester) to carry out a site visit to vantage point business village (Mitcheldean) occupied by GE Aviation.

Scope of Work:

The industrial unit was under major refurbishment by Wates Construction with the main client being GE Aviation. Keith Rhodes is working directly for GE Aviation and is to install a new mechanical Braider machine worth in excess of £1,000,000. On arrival to site the discussions were that a temporary clean room had to be erected as per the specialist request of the German engineering manufactures that the braider when delivered to site must be unpacked & erected in a clean environment with positive pressure units installed to keep a constant flow of clean air as to keep the construction dust out of clean room area.

The program logistics for this operation was to be completed in four days commencing on Friday 3rd July 2015 and be all handed over by 5pm on the Monday 6th July 2015. The logistics program was handled by Rex Bishop and Son Limited together with Keith Rhodes Machinery installations Limited & MG Scaffold Limited.

Outcome: The scaffold was erected on Friday & Saturday with the clean room being erected using mobile elevating working platforms attaching 1000 gauge fire retardant polythene to create clean room enclosure on Sunday/Monday. Separate Entry access points where made for personnel & fork lift machinery with emergency fire exit routes for both. The clean room was all finished by 4pm that Monday with GE Aviation representatives visiting site to check clean room in which they were very happy & signed off the works. During the machinery installations our site supervisor is on site monitoring the positive pressure units and integrity of the clean room. Once the braider is installed the clean room will stay in operation until the site is handed back to GE Aviation. We will then return to dismantle the clean room.
